If you have multiple new customers to add in the system, or their information needs to be mass updated, it can be helpful to use the Import feature. Before you proceed to importing, let's prepare the import file by exporting data from the system.
Navigate to the "Customers" section in the Operations Portal.
Then, click "Customers".
Click on the "Data" tab.
Click on the "Show/Hide Columns" icon.
Then, select the columns that you want to include in your import. If you are using this export to work on data that you will be importing back into the system, you will want to export any columns you need to update. The "Username" column is required, otherwise the import will not work.
Click on the "File" menu.
Initiate the export process by selecting the "Export" option.
"Save as" dialog box should appear. If you would like to rename your export, click in the filename field to type and enter the name of your file.
Click on the "Save" button. If you are exporting a large amount of data, it may take a small amount of time to complete the export. The file will download and save to your computer. This export will also have the correct header row for importing data back into the system when using the "Customers" screen.
Once the file has saved to your computer, you can check and update your file. If you are creating new customers, add the new data to the file. All customers will need to have a username when creating or updating data by importing. This is the email that they will use to log into the system. You can also update existing customer data in the exported file. Just remember, if you remove data from a cell, the data imported into the system will be blank for that field on that customer. Save the updates you have made, and your file is ready to be imported back into the system.
Now that you have your import file ready, go back to the Customer Data screen and click on the "File" menu option.
Click "Import".
Choose your preferred import option. "Create & Update" will create new customers, and update existing customers with your import. "Create Only" will only create new customers with your import. "Update Only" will only update existing customers with your import.
Choose the .CSV file you would like to import. Please be sure that you select the correct file.
Click "Open".
An import message will appear letting you know that the import file is in process and to check back in a few minutes for the imported data.
Once the import is complete, you will receive an email with the report of your import.
