In order to setup the Avalara tax engine on your Kodaris website, you can go to System > Settings in the operations portal.
There are a few settings that need to be configured. First is the avataxAccount setting.
To configure the avataxAccount setting:
Search 'avataxAccount' - this will display the needed setting to update
To click into the details of a setting, click the arrow next to it
On the Details screen, you can update the value to be your Avalara AvaTax account number and then click Save
Next, following the same steps as above, you'll want to configure the following settings as well:
avataxCompanyCode - AvaTax Company Code
This setting value should be the company code sent by the system with requests to Avalara. This must match the Company Code set up in the AvaTax dashboard. If left blank it will attempt to find a default company in the AvaTax dashboard.
avataxLicense - AvaTax License Key
This setting value should be your Avalara AvaTax license key.
avataxOriginCity - Origin Address City
This setting value should be the city of the origin address for the shipment.
avataxOriginLine1 - Origin Address Line 1
This setting value should be Line 1 of the origin address for the shipment.
avataxOriginLine2 - Origin Address Line 2 (Optional)
This setting value should be Line 2 of the origin address for the shipment.
avataxOriginLine3 - Origin Address Line 3 (Optional)
This setting value should be Line 3 of the origin address for the shipment.
avataxOriginPostalCode - Origin Address Postal Code
This setting value should be the postal code of the origin address for the shipment. For the US, use the ZIP code.
avataxOriginRegion - Origin Address Region
This setting value should be the state or province of the origin address for the shipment. For US states, use the two-character code such as NY, CA, etc.
useAvalaraOnlyForTaxes (Optional)
If you want to use the Avalara tax amount for taxes, and not try to match erp tax codes, set the value of this setting to 1.
taxEngine - Tax Engine
To use Avalara sales tax, set this setting value to Avalara.
Once these settings have been setup, you're all set!
To confirm that the taxes are working correctly, you can go to your website:
In order to test as a customer, login on the website. To test as a guest user, skip this step.
Find a product, add it to your cart, and go to the cart screen
On the cart screen, go through the tabs and fill out the information as needed
Then go to the final cart tab and ensure that taxes are being calculated in the Order Totals section
