Operations PIM - Order Products using the Category Product Grid

  1. Click "PIM"

To have your products appear in a specific order within a category, you can assign a numerical value in the "Product Order" field. While there are many ways you can update this product field in the operations portal, in this help page we are manually updating product order by using the category product grid. To do this, navigate to the PIM section in the operations portal.

  2. Choose "Categories"

Choose "Categories". In order to access and update products when using the category product grid, you will need to be set up either as an administrator or a superuser, or have the roles of: “categoryView”, “categoryEdit”, and productEdit.

  3. Search to find category

Since we would like to order products within a certain category, we searched on the insulation "foil" category.

  4. Click "more details" icon

    Click "more details" icon.

  5. Choose "Products" tab

    Choose the "Products" tab.

  6. Click "Show/Hide" icon

    Click the "Show/Hide" icon.

  7. Select "Product Order"

Select "Product Order" to add it to your grid.

  8. Sort the column

Sorting the product order column can be helpful when updating product order. In this example, you can see that top three products have the product order value of "0". If products have the same product order value, the order is then alphabetical/numerical order based on the name of the product.

  9. Product Placement ..."

Looking at the products listed in the Foil Faced category, you can see the products with the value of "0" are at the top of the page. For this example, we would like product "WAL18009" to be listed first.

  10. Update Product Order

You can update the "Product Order" values by clicking into the field and entering numerical values.

  11. Product Order Values

When updating order values, the closer the number is to 0, the higher on the page the product will appear. The higher the order value, the lower the product will be on the page.

  12. Updated Product Order

Once product order has been assigned, you can verify that products are ordered correctly on the commerce site. You can see in this example that the top three products are now ordered as they were updated in the operations portal.
